Established red velvet fairy wrasse 3" in 40 gal.. Looking to add a 2" red tail flasher wrasse. Should they be fine?

I find with flasher and fairy wrasse if you don't get super male's you are OK. Super male's I've seen very Aggressive.

I'm only posting this to tease Pete he knows he wants one lol.

Definitely use a social acclimation box. Red velvets, C. rubrisquammis, get big anf pushy for a fairy wrasse, and a 40g isn't that big of a tank. I would definitely be cautious in adding a P. rubricaudalis.

Definitely agree!

Yup can attest to the rubrisquammis getting ornery. Used to have a yellow sided wrasse who maintained discipline in the tank. The red velvet generally acquiesced to him. About 1 year later guess he had enough and we'll the yellow sided is no more

I have a 4" Melenarus and 5" Solon and they get along just fine. Very social.
