Prevent unwanted stress from other fish during the acclimation process. Also if the fish dies its in the box and not wedged between rocks in the bottom corner of the tank where you cant reach.

I use a drilled plastic cage for gerbil/hamsters for my acclimation box. You just have to make sure there are no sharp parts from the drilled holes and have the room to sit it at the bottom of your tank. I also add a piece of liverock to keep it sunk in the tank. I've acclimated several fairy wrasses this way.

I just finished acclimating my newest member. Nahacky's wrasse.

Here shows I just let him loose after 2 days in the acclimation box. Perfectly happy with the others.

I've had one before and they are timid. Not aggressive at all. It's hanging out with my hooded now. They have similar colors and must think they belong together.

Definately need a cover like HandMafia said. They bounce off of the bottom of mine ALL the time.

so how do i go about making a cover, one of my light fixtures sits on the edge of my tank, and i have hallides over the back half.

also can different species of wrasses get along, like a mystery wrasse and one of the many types of flasher wrasses?

Mystery wrasses have a reputation of being pugnacious. Many flashers and fairies get along (See Brad's tank). I have flames and a rhomboid that do well together. Many of us use 1/4" netting stretched into diy screen frames from the local home store

Couldn't find it on their site, but Petsmart sells a "net breeder" for like 5 bucks that I used to acclimate my new Pink Margin. Worked great. Actually floats while attached to the side of the tank so the top sat right against my net lid so the wrasse couldn't jump. It is now in my tank with no aggression issues at all.
