Hi all, my wrasse has been acting weird towards my fire fish flaring its fins next to it. Not flashing but swimming up next to it floating and shows its fins. It’s not acting aggressive and attacking it though.

What do you think it’s doing?

Showing off maybe? Wrasses are fun to watch, the most enjoyable fish in my reef for sure :star-struck:

I wouldn't worry about it but enjoy the show as long as theres no aggression!

What kind of wrasse?
It’s a female carpenters flasher wrasse. Not the best image but she does it and then after a second swims back behind her rock. I thought it was guarding off her home by the rocks but doesn’t seem to be that.

It sounds as though your wrasse is asserting dominance over the other fish in the tank. Likely because it’s starting to transition going by in your later photo I can see filaments forming on the dorsal fin.

Got it thankyou! So does this mean it’s turning into a male?
