I picked up a wrasse from lfs, they said it was a hoevens wrasse but I don’t believe it is. Can someone help id this wrasse for me?

It would be a cousin to the popular Hoeven's (H. melanurus). Looks to be Halichoeres biocellatus, red lined wrasse. Great fish.

Is it a reef safe wrasse? I picked it up for 30 bucks, loved the color and went for it. Just a little nervous now because I wasn’t hundred percent sure it was reef safe.

Great I don’t mind the clean up crew getting taken down every once in a while. As of now I have a hoevens wrasse, this red lined wrasse, and another unknown wrasse. He’s kind of blurry in this picture my lfs doesn’t really keep good track of their wrasses

That one is a fairy of some kind, but I can't tell. I'm not the best at fairy wrasse IDs...just the really common species.

How is the Hoeven's tolerating the new red lined?

Initially the hoevens would chase it around but after two days of threatening it with the net to go into the refugium they all seem to get along now.

Hey Guys I have one for one you.... the LFS stated he is reef safe and named a blacked line wrasse! I never heard something like this....
