Fins look beat up, either from transport/catching/who the fish is currently housed with, etc. Unless you see it eating I wouldn't even consider it. What is it labeled as?
Thanks for the help just to clear things up it was at a lfs i work at. We just got him in from a shipment and wasn't on the list of fish we ordered.. Got him to eat though
Knew it was a black leopard wrasse, but not female. How can you tell? I tried googling a few images and only found this distinct one from LiveAquaria that might be a male?
The easiest way to tell them apart is by looking at the patterns on their face. Males will have broad line patterns on their face, whereas the females have many pale spots and as they mature some thin line patterns mixed in.
I hope she makes it. If you can house her in a peaceful tank with mature live rock and sand where she can browse for pods and offer some live foods (copepods, amphipods, live brine) and black worms if you have them, it will help.
