I recently purchased a wrasse from a LFS. They told me it was a fairy wrasse, but I didn’t ask which type. This store is hours away from me so it would be easier to just ask R2R. Here are some pics, I can give more if needed. Sorry if the pictures are bad, he won’t stay still, unless I catch him after feeding.

Either:
- Kwazulu fairy wrasse
- Whipfin fairy wrasse
- Social Fairy Wrasse (My bets are on this guy)

Ur best bet is to go to live aquaria and filter through the fairy and flasher wrasses.

I don’t recommend this as they won’t have every fairy wrasse commonly seen. Also it’s definitely not a flasher wrasse as it’s got the wrong body shape.

I was going to direct the Op to the wrasse thread. But you came to him!
Haha, I love some mystery! Especially with fairy wrasses since they look similar but there’s just one minor detail that may set them appart!

@SaltyT @Crabby48 what do you guys think?

It reminds me of the blue throat fairy wrasse I picked up last week. Op hopefully can put up a good side photo of the wrasse.
Fingers crossed - That’s what my first thought was. Do they have a long filament on their fin?

I am pretty sure it is a female, will go on live aquaria. Only the different colors near the face look like the blue throat fairy wrasse. From what I can tell, it doesn't have a long filament on its film

The female ruby fairy wrasse female looks very close to my wrasse. BTW, could I put any other reef safe wrasse with it. I have ample hiding spots

You can - Be warned some will be more aggressive than others, look in the thread “Wrasse Lovers Thread” to find good compatible wrasses.
