Picked up this melanarus almost 3 weeks ago. Looked and swam normal when purchased and added to qt. Already did 2 rounds prazi and 12 days metro and focus, copper ramped up over 4 days with copper power. Reached therapeutic levels yesterday. He eats and sleeps in a mini sandbed I put in a container for him.

Past few days I noticed he kind of has a hump like posture and doesnt really open his tail. Swims kind of akward too. Is this because wrasse are weird and he doesnt like qt and copper or did he suffer a spinal injury?

If you could post a short video it might help. Sure sounds like a spinal injury to me. If he is still eating there is a chance he will recover. It depends on the severity of the injury and that's difficult to confirm just looking at him. Fingers crossed!

As you can see he is eating. Hope you love the plastic decor my son decorated the hospital tank lol

I'm tempted to pull him and place in my pod and flatworm infested coral frag tank. Need to continue qt for my lemonpeel and tomini and if the wrasse pulls through try and start copper qt over on him.

IMO .... after watching the vid, its eating fine and swimming around exploring, so be it. Plz dont take this the wrong way but IMO you're being too much of a Helicopter Hobbyist

The fact that all fins are relaxed is a great sign the fish is calm in its environment. I'd be 100x more alarmed is fins were all flared which is a 10000% sign of stress

It's not like you can control any situation of the slighty shaped posture..... whatcha going to do, pull it and crack it's back with a spinal adjustment? Lololololololololol.

I would just chill and enjoy your tank....but that's just me :D

Agreed to a point, the fins and behavior all look good to me. It just seems that the swimming and shape have worsened since starting copper. If it's a spinal injury then theres nothing I can do and itll live in a frag tank where it doesnt have to compete with other fish. If its acting odd because of qt and copper then I need advice on best plan on action.

Any input from the wrasse experts?
Really not sure what you're asking ppl to say.... like feed the Wrasse a certain food and within a week the fish will be poker straight?

Sometimes some things are just a mystery.... accept and move on.

Its shape now, is what it is, brother.

If it bothers you that much sell it on Craigslist and go buy a 2nd one ...I guess

Hope it works out for you....
