I just got done QTing a Redfin wrasse (I think that’s what it’s called) and it was out all day one day and then that next morning I saw him before I left for work and haven’t seen him since. It’s been 2 days and he hasn’t come out to eat and he didn’t jump (I have plenty of space around the tank to check). I know wrasses are good at hiding but I just don’t know if he’s already died or what.

Don’t sweat it. It’s probably spooked and hiding in the rocks somewhere, I don’t think that one buries itself in the sand but I could be wrong. My Red Corris buried himself for days before it was comfortable to be out and about. I had a Firefish that was MIA for a month one time.

I had a solar fairy wrasse go missing too. I know that they can hide but he was always out swimming. I checked behind the tank, in the overflow box, in the sump, everywhere but in the rocks. It has been several weeks and I still can't find him. No body even. Not sure what happened.

Happened to me a few weeks ago with a sixline. No clue what happened still

My wrasse hid for four days after I put him in the tank, then he finally came out.
Did he eat? How long can it go without eating... maybe he’s getting some scraps somehow but it’s only a 55 gallon corner tank so it’s easy to see if he were to dart out for food

I’m just concerned about it not eating. I feel like I’d see it if it were darting out for food

I work 12 hour days so never really saw him much. But I know over the weekend and at night when I fed I never saw him. I'm sure spare food snuck under rocks and stuff and he probably grabbed it. Or at night.

That Firefish I mentioned that was hidden for a month I thought for sure starved to death. The day it came out of hiding I was surprised that it showed no signs of starvation. I broadcast feed so I'm sure some of the food was getting into it's hiding hole.

My food all ends up all over the tank so maybe he’s finding it. It’s only a 55 gallon so it’s weird I can’t figure out where he is.

Update: it’s been over a week and a half and I think it’s dead. Never found where it went. Never saw it dead. I guess I have a good clean up crew. Sucks not to know. Oh well...

I just got a checkered wrasse...dripped him for an hour...soon as i pout him in the tank he dove into sand bed ...havent seen him yet; its been a week

My Redfin wrasse got jumped on by axilspot hogfish, which I just found out is a ... wrasse! After 10 days, which was yesterday, his beautiful head popped out for food. Bad hogfish circling rocks where he hides. Pains me he can’t come out and enjoy my 100-gallon tank!
