I was given a trio of wrasses yesterday. They went into a qt for observation. Previous owner lost a bunch of fish to an unknown cause. What should I be looking for? They don't have any obvious signs of ich or velvet. They are mostly laying on the sand bed. What behavior symptoms should I be in the look out for? Can't take pictures as he qt is still cloudy from the sand. A dragon wrasse, 6 line, and Christmas wrasse I believe

You'll want to watch for avoidance of light, lack of appetite, heavy breathing, flashing/scratching against the sand or rock. Look for infection like red or white areas- these might spread quickly or slowly. Infections can be difficult to treat because gram negative infections can move quickly and kill within a day or even hours.

Thanks. Is it prudent to dose prazi-pro, I hear they can be sensitive to that?
Dan

I think they handle prazipro better than copper. But I also do 3 rounds slightly under dosing

I'd run them thru Prazipro & Coppersafe, just to be on the safe side. Some fish can build up immunity to parasites, but are still carriers capable of infecting other fish.

Yes I would. They tend to carry worms often. It's a good idea to dose prazi with wrasses and tangs both.

I have a 6 line wrasse and they never sit on the bottom. They are active fish swimming from one end of the tank to the other, in and out of caves, poking around for small things they might pick at on the rocks. If yours is slow or sitting in the bottom I would be worried about an illness of some sort
