It was my birthday this weekend and my wife asked what fish I’ve been wanting. Well, she was nice enough to order them online for me. One they are calling a Wardley wrasse.

I’m planning on a 6 week quarantine. Do I need sand in the tank for it to bury itself in?

Common name is melanurus wrasse. They don’t NEED sand, but it will help a lot and without it, it may kill itself diving into the glass. I know some people have kept them in bare bottom tanks though which is why I say they don’t 100% need it. I would definitely give it a tupperware with 3-4” of sand to bury in though.

Thank you. Looks like I’ll be getting some sand tonight.

Just be aware that it will kick a lot of sand out of the container when burying itself. So you may want to use something with high sides.
