Wrasse question

I currently have a Lubbock's wrasse in my 60g cube which has been in there for about 4 months. I've researched a lot and it sounded like they are the most mild mannered wrasses to have. Today I picked up a small carpenters and solar wrasse. Upon addition, the carpenters went to hide and haven't seen him since (not too concerned about that) however, the Lubbock's went after the solar wrasse. He has been chasing him around the tank for about 30 min and the solar finally found a place to hide.

Again, I did as much research as possible but I'm wondering if I'm gonna have an issue with the Lubbock's and solar and if that's a common mismatch?

I don't have an acclimation box so that's out of the question. I tried feeding and all fish are but once finished the Lubbock's went back on the chase!

Any tips are appreciated!!!

Not sure about the compatability of your 2, but I have a yellowfin flasher wrasse, then added a green coris wrasse not sure if there was any chasing or not. Then added a chisseltooth wrasse didn't notice chasing. Then added a 6 line wrasse. The green coris and yellowfin wrasses chased the poor fellow for a day or 2 then lost interest. I also added a melanurus wrasse and there has been zero chasing.

I'm hoping the chasing will stop and everyone can just get along.

Is the chasing relentless and with actual biting/bumping? Or is it more a charge and it stops when the solorensis goes in a different direction? If it is the first case I might ba more concerned. Things you could try are leaving the lights off for a day, or putting a mirror so the lubbocks can see it and be distracted by what he percieves as more serious competition for him.

Your initial research about lubbocks was correct, but fish dont always follow the rules. The aggression will most likely calm down on its own but you may need to be prepared to intervene.

Initially, the chasing was relentless but there has been no biting or bumping. The Lubbocks is definitely flashing and making his presence known. The lights are on now, and as long as the solar doesn't come down towards the bottom 1/3 of the tank, all is well. I'm feeling more optimistic that this is just normal territory issues and all will sort itself out.

I fed this morning and all fish were eating including the new additions!

The Solar and carpenter were in the same tank and have been together for 3+ weeks. They are definitely right by each other today

FYI, this is why acclimation boxes need to be used. You can buy one inexpensively or make one yourself. But if you ever add any more in the future, please do yourself and your fish a favor and use one!
