I have had a Ruby Headed Fairy Wrasse in my 75 reef for about two months. Really liking him/her and seeing why people like wrasses. Not sure of the sex.

What other wrasses can I add that would be reef safe, compatible with the Rudy Headed, are colorful, and swim in the open? Not looking for rare, hard to care for, or budget busters (prefer less than $50-75).

Agreed, flasher wrasses will fit the bill. So will melanurus and yellow cris wrasses. Lubbocks fairy wrasse woud be good too.

I 3rd the flasher wrasse suggestions.
A diamondtail flasher truly is one of those fishies that make this hobby worth it.
But there are plenty of more affordable flashers out there too, you just have to make your purchase wisely by selecting premium specimens with a keen eye

I added a filamented flasher shortly after these suggestions and three tiny yellow coris yesterday. Going for a harem and my nem recently ate my bristletooth tang so I've got plenty of bioload space.

Good read. I want to see if I can get some spawning and yellow coris seemed reasonable in price and hardy. If not let the best terminal male survive. Win win experiment.

But I was thinking of the 5 total wrasses being a harem but maybe I misunderstood the term? Does harem just apply to a group of a single type?

A harem is multiple females to a male of all the same species.

Male wrasses will display toward other closely related males, so skip the idea of a haeem of wrasses in aquaria.
