Wrasse Resort

I believe baillon is a similar species to peacock
They’re of the same genus - Symphodus :)
In fact, so is the Corkwing wrasse!

Ballan and Cuckoo are both in the Labrus genus.

The Rockcook is in the genus Centrolabrus

And the Goldsinny is in the genus Ctenolabrus

don't know difference from wrassehole and a hole in the ground... ;) :grinning-face-with-big-eyes:

Beautiful and unique fish. I raised so many aulonocara, they remind me of wrasses. Wrasses are just colorful fish. "just" I am sure many eyes rolled in the back of their heads and popped out somewhere.

I kept cichlids (and killifish) for many years they probably contributed to my interest in wrasses.

I think my interest in wrasses was brought up by my love for narrow shaped fish in general (such as Tilefish).

You've never kept freshwater?

I never kept killifish, they were pretty. Also, fairy/flashers seem to have short life spans. Something that urks me.

I loved keep mouth brooders. Seeing the fry swim out of the females mouth was fascinating. I personally love Discus more. The way they care for their young is really amazing. Much different than any other fish.

I have had fresh water but at the same time had a saltwater nano running.
I never really kept cichlids and instead kept more communal and narrow bodied fish. My oldest ever fish I kept was a red tailed ‘shark’ that lasted I believe 10 years, maybe longer. I loved his body shape and wrasses really do remind me of that elongated yet stuffy body.

Infact, I did have a German Blue Ram pair in the tank, along with neon tetras and glass catfish and the family favourite loach plus about 20 Corydoras.

I think that is a Mikrogeophagus ramirezi. No idea what this blue or Bolivian blue rams you both speak of are.

So there are many different types of rams and many sub types of Blue Rams. The one he showed a picture of is a Bolivian Ram no blue in it.

Are you 100% sure you kept THE German Blue Ram? I mean I like them all but the True Blue German is the fav ‘ Blue’ one lol

I also had Mikrogeophagus altispinosus or ramirezi can’t remember for several years. They were …. alright. Survived a heater failure but the Chromobotia macracanthus didn’t so I sold everything and now that tank is my sump.

My issue with freshwater is that all the fish that excite me are massive. I’d love to do some hardcore aquascaping that only fresh allows but the stocking bores me.

Capra sibirica is the superior ram in my opinion.

I feel you. Love the idea of keeping Arowana Hybrid Shovelnose, Platinum RedTails and all that Jazz but with a nice scape. Unfortunately realistically it’s just ponds or really really big tanks and the fish don’t always work with the scape.

I wrote an article about them a few years back if you like I can PM you it.
About the Siberian mountain ram? This was just a silly joke :face-with-tears-of-joy:
