I’ve missed a lot in this thread! So many sweet looking wrasses :)
I finally attempted something that could’ve set off the rest of my guys as a ticking time bomb but it’s gone more than fine and is going perfectly currently!
I finally found the perfect Paracheilinus species and tried it knowing I could separate if needed but nobody cared, I went with a Paracheilinus cyaneus.

some wrasse bomb :)
Do you still have your guy?

He looks great! I'm thinking yours is a hybrid, his anal fin looks yellow. If he is a hybrid that's really cool!

His anal fin is a stunning yellow! What do you think he’d be a hybrid between?

My guess is a filamentosus x flavianalis hybrid since they're found in the same waters.

I’m intrigued now, wonder whether it’ll stay with 2 filaments or grow more.
Also the facial stripes look wrong for a full bred cyaneus. Here’s a decent photo of his face.

You'll have to keep us updated as he gets bigger!

Will do! Wonder whether he’ll stay small like Flavianalis or get slightly larger like Cyaneus.
I did think he could be filamentosus but the belly colour being pure white with not yellow stripe in the middle looks wrong to me.

I see more filamentosus characteristics than I do cyaneus, but I like a good mystery!

Hopefully I have a cyaneus as I prefer the blue over what Filamentosus looks like when he flashes. My LFS that I got this guy from has a photo of the same fish in display which confuses me even more!
Here’s the photo.

Maybe Filamentosus x Flavianalis x Cyaneus?
What really puts me off is the fact when he’s in “resting” colours he has a bright red filament pair but they seem to only be 2 filaments where as filamentosus has about 10+ filaments.

That pic is lineopunctatus without a doubt.

If yours only has 2 filaments it's likely from flavianalis. I can't tell how mature he is from your pics, but if he's still young maybe he'll develop more filaments.
