Wrasse stimming weird

Sorry I can't open the pic/video . How long have You had the fish ?

I have had him for a week and a half. Swimming normal until today. In qt one round of prazipro done was going to do round 2 today. All other fish swimming fine no issues.

His color is good.

Ohhh poor guy. Could be a spinal injury..they spook easy...

Oh no... I didn't even think about that but that would make sense :(

Agree that’s a spinal injury. It’ll get worse before it gets better, if it gets better. IME it’s been 25% to 75% fail :(

They’ll lie down for a week or more without moving or eating and sometimes they come back, other times they succumb to their wounds. It’s tragic but there’s not much you can do. Feed it while it eats so the down time it can pull through.

Epsom salt 1 tablespoon per 5 gal may reduce swelling, which I suspect is the biggest issue during healing.

Wow this is so sad. Just bout him and 2 other wrasses and was qting them all but this guy has been the most friendly of the bunch.

Its especially sad because I am an ICU nurse who knows all too well about spinal injuries. But in humans of course.

I wonder if could transfer him to a smaller tank (that is set up) so I can do epsom salt bath on him and not do prazipro on him just yet (and continue treatment on other fish in qt.

Do you think this is an omay idea or should I u leave him there. I have a clean 20l cycled ready for fish that I could mkve him to.

I’d leave it, epsom salt won’t hurt anything it’s basically magnesium. We aren’t really sure how (or even if) it works, it’s strictly anecdotal. I’d keep stress down and leave the wrasse in the same tank.

It is sad, sorry :(

How long would the course usually take? I want to keep stress down but would also like to put the other fish in dt.

You can only do two doses without water changes, a week or so?

It appears this fish has developed swimbladder issues. He is floating belly up in the qt tank but still alive. His belly is really distended.

What can I do to help?

The article below explains how to vent a fish's swim bladder ... as this fellow's already got challenges, I'd tend to err on the side of caution when considering such a technical emergency procedure:
