Hi all, so about a month ago a started missing my paracheilinus flavianalis wrasse, haven't seen a thing from him, so I suspect he is gone, now with him, I didn't see any signs of decline. Now I see my yellow coris wrasse tail is looking terrible. And he has some faded color patches (best seen in the blue pic). These color patches were there a long time before and after discussing with my lfs they told me pigmentation spots due to him eating and behaving normally.

Is this aggression or sickness? I have been dealing with a very aggressive pink spotted goby, that has been attacking everybody after losing his shrimp buddy and cave. Now I have placed another shrimp in, but he started to attack that one as well, so he is on his way out if I can catch him. But I still need to deal with my wrasse.

Nothing has been quarantined (I know better now but when I started this was not an option) last fish introduced was almost 5 months ago, only some new coral frags as additions.

Any help greatly appreciated!

In lieu of aggression, this appears to be tail rot often bacterial in nature and an opportunity to revisit your water quality and treat with either Seachem Kanaplex or maracyn 2 in a quarantine tank.

What other fish are in with it? It could be aggression from the goby, but I don't see a lot of issues like that.

The fin damage does look like bite marks. the scale discoloration might be from bites, or it could be an infection.

2 clowns, 2 bangai cardinals, a firefish and a goby from hell. I swear this thing is a mean fish, he is the biggest of the tank and I see him chasing and trying to bite everyone.

I'm in the process of upgrading tanks, so in a couple of weeks I will have cycled the new tank and start transferring everything. I'm now thinking of qt-ing everybody for the new tank. However I heard you should put the qt in a different room and that is not a possibility for me, should I just qt everyone in the same room, or just medicate the wrasse for infection and put the rest over since they seem to have no problems.

Maracyn is available where I live so I will get that on hand. If it is due to aggression would I still treat for the bacterial infection?

Make sure its maracyn 2.

Right they have both, just out of curiosity cause the description states the same what is the difference?
If I recall Maracyn is ethromyacin and gram positive for eye issues and Some bacterial and maracyn two is Minocycline for bacterial issues and is a broad spectrum treatment.

The QT does not need to be in a different room, just not right next to your display - try for a 6 to 10 foot separation. More important is to never allow any water to go from the QT to the DT - even water on your hand or a net or siphon tube.
