So tonight I realized I haven't noticed my flame wrasse and ended up finding her in my corner overflow... Any tips or ideas how to get her out safely? I know it was my 6line wrasses doing. I don't think I can wait until I set up my frag tank to rehome the sixline. My next tank will definitely have more accessible overflows!

eek! a 6line would be in the sump asap if it were me. all you can do is stick a net down there. Maybe drain it as much as possible to make it easier

It would be but those darn things are impossible to catch!

When my crescent tail jumped inti the overflow, he jumped back into the tabk when I went to catch him.

My clown jumped in once. I just pulled the pipe and caught him with the sock lol he was perfectly fine.

I’d toss that six line in the sump they’re a disaster waiting to happen...

If only it were that easy! Lol
Fish traps —- I have one with a trap door tied to a fishing line. I turkey baste food in to the trap with the door open for several days. I leave it open so they get used to feeding near and inside it. Then, one day when the fish I want is getting comfortable, I’ll quickly release the trap door while it’s inside!

Gotcha!

I installed a valve on my overflow drain for this exact situation. Just recently my diamond goby got in my overflow. I just took the overflow drain out and since I had the value nothing drained into the sump. Was able to net him pretty easily.

You've also got a few wormy'z in there ;)

Is a celebratory dance required or just recommended?

This has happened twice to me. Once with a dottyback and once with a hogfish. Luckily, both are longer skinny fish so after many curse words and failed attempts with a net I just got my tubing I use for water changes and sucked them out into a bucket lol. Like a charm

Im tempted but my tubing is borderline too narrow for the flame wrasse

Try cutting a piece of 1” pvc and lay it horizontal in the overflow area if it’s wide enough on the bottom. Once the fish rests inside scoop the entire piece of pipe up with your net.

If those are removable dursos you can also pull the pipe out and the fish will go down with the water into the sump and then it's much easier to catch
