any idea why my wrasse would have a huge belly like this? He eats and acts normal. I've had him for about 3 months. No white stringy poo, it's brown and disintegrates. Any ideas?

Swim bladder issue? But it would affect the swimming patter.
Did it evolve directly or gradually. If it a female - she can also be ripe - the last stage - ovulation - in that case you should be able to spot a genital papilla

Can you see a genital papilla?

how fast did it develop ?

Curious on both questions, is the fish pooping?

Fish poops daily or close to it. It poops regularly when I feed. it's got bigger over a few week period. The first week or 2 I just thought it was full. It is symmetrical on both sides. I haven't noticed any genital markings. I haven't been looking for it though

Tumor of some kind perhaps? BTW, sorry to tell you, your clam is dead.

Update on this.... I normally feed a decent amount twice a day. I decided to skip feeding and see what happened. I didn't feed for 2 days and his stomach slowly shrunk to normal appearance. Yesterday I fed twice and he looks like he could pop now. lol either my food is causing some bloating or he's just a fat pig. Either way I'm much less worried now. I think he just eats too much
