Whats the reasoning for this if you dont mind me asking?Thalassoma lucasanum is correct.
And unfortunately, Thalassoma species do not belong in reef tanks, unless it's a huge tank. Not compatible with other wrasses, either.
In addition to their aggression, I assume they are not invert safe, which is the case with most Thalassoma species.Whats the reasoning for this if you dont mind me asking?
I was always under the impression they are a relatively small species of Thalassoma so assuming its due to their aggression?
that’s weird, he’s never bullied anyone, i have a couple inverts and a coris wrasseIn addition to their aggression, I assume they are not invert safe, which is the case with most Thalassoma species.
i definitely agree, she had a salt tank when she was my age and she loves wrasse. we had just finished cycling and she just brought her home lolI think as much as how wonderful your mom is I think fish just like any other pets are not ideal for "surprise" gift......as you might end up rehoming the pet
others said that was because of aggression to other fish & inverts but he’s the most peaceful fish i have, i also have a few inverts and a cories wrasse, weirdThalassoma lucasanum is correct.

it’s a 72 gal . i have the wrasse , a baby blue tang ( i was not aware of how big they get when i got him, he’ll get rehomed or upgraded when he gets bigger) a cories wrasse (i think? Has the orange w white spotes) a one spot foxface, lawnmower blenny, 4 clowns, a cleaner shrimp, 2 peppermints, a few nems and Leather corals, and a Hollywood stunner coral, oh and 3 firefish. i use a canaster filter tooFirst welcome to R2R! Second, beautiful fish! Third, @evolved is as his title states! The wrasse guy! His threads are great “light reading” hahaha. But can we get her a little better info? I personally don’t have experience with this particular Thalassoma and it’s obviously already in her system. I’ll start by asking, @maggiexo what else is In this system and what size is it?
A lot of the wrasses show their aggression as they mature, often starting off pretty docile.others said that was because of aggression to other fish & inverts but he’s the most peaceful fish i have, i also have a few inverts and a cories wrasse, weird

The first thing that comes to mind that is very peaceful as a juvenile and turn into the worse reef fish as it ages is a dragon wrasse lol. My all time favorite fish! When young they may harass inverts but as they age.... well, things get thrown across the tank and into rocks and the glass lol. You mentioned orange, and white spots for your coris... are you referring to something like this?it’s a 72 gal . i have the wrasse , a baby blue tang ( i was not aware of how big they get when i got him, he’ll get rehomed or upgraded when he gets bigger) a cories wrasse (i think? okay, if they get aggressive over time I’ll rehome them, my tank used to have a bunchA lot of the wrasses show their aggression as they mature, often starting off pretty docile.
thank you so much! i appreciate it! i am definitely upgrading in the next few months. also he is the first pictureThe first thing that comes to mind that is very peaceful as a juvenile and turn into the worse reef fish as it ages is a dragon wrasse lol. Because if it’s the first one that is a fish much like the dragon wrasse! Peaceful as a youngster but as the grow they can and will eat any invert they see. They are astonishingly beautiful as adults.
Now on a note about the term “reef safe” what this generally refers to is the fact that non reef safe fish have an predisposition to eat any and all inverts. We have all seen predator reefs and they are amazing! So if you want to keep these babies @maggiexo just know they eat inverts, will move your coral around if they aren’t secured down and they get large and need a large aquarium. Look at it this way! It’s an easy excuse to build an absolute amazing huge aquarium in the future!!! Or even better start now! All in the name of keeping your slimy babies happy!![]()
Absolutely!!! Then he will eventually grow into the third picture I posted!!! STUNNING fish!!! Full of character! But... they like to redecorate for you so as he grows make sure you are securing things down well lol. And he will eventually take on a taste for shrimps, crabs, snails and well just about anything he or she wants lol. Don’t let the small mouth fool you!!! They will grab ahold of something and beat it to a pulp and eat the chunks lol. Like I said I’ve seen predator reefs with fish like you have and they are wonderful! They are often times quite large though!thank you so much! i appreciate it! i am definitely upgrading in the next few months. also he is the first picture

Exactly these two reasons. In addition to their aggression, I assume they are not invert safe, which is the case with most Thalassoma species.

As a juvenile, it is apt to be peaceful, but this peace will not last as it matures I'm afraid.that’s weird, he’s never bullied anyone, i have a couple inverts and a coris wrasse
If that is indeed Coris gaimard, it will certainly outgrow your tank.a cories wrasse (i think? Has the orange w white spotes)
Thank you @evolved!Exactly these two reasons.
