Can you copper a royal pencil wrasse..Pseudojuloides severnsi?

Also, I have one of those Innovative Marine seaweed holders. It's basically an ABS plastic piece that you put seaweed inside and close it. It's supposed to "promote" natural grazing. Anyway, I have one in my DT and wanted to take the one I put in my QT out and also use it in my DT. My question is, if I leave it out of the water for a few days, would it be "disease free"?

I've never tried but I hear they're a sensitive wrasse in general. Mine didn't make it but one week.

Your generally the one I'd go to for wrasse guidance, along with @evolved but since your asking I'd shy away from copper. I use a 72g cycled tank for more delicate fish like this and just hit them with prazi. Take a month or 3 to get them nice and fat. Then ttm right into display. Any other issues that may come up can be dealt with accordingly but are rare anyhow.

Last I remember, wrasses are a scaleless fish? Maybe I'm wrong there. But, due to that they don't tolerate copper well I was told long ago.

If you are worried about transmitting disease, I would soak the seaweed clip in a mild vinegar (or bleach) solution and then let air dry for 3 days before reusing.

FYI; wrasses have scales.

Oh yes wrasses do, find a color morph on the body and they really stick out. Btw there are other meds and methods instead of using copper. If worried use as a last resort.

They sure do, anyone who's ever seen one getting harassed badly would know that. :)

I should clarify I suggested to stay away from copper not because they can't handle it. I just don't think its needed on a fish like this. I also don't use it too often anymore anyway. But never really had problems with it when I did use it.

I put my wrasse through copper for about 3 days didn't go well and I had to back it off right away. But my wrasse fakes a heart attack if I put my hand in the tank. Maybe some can withstand copper.

I avoid copper personally, and if ich becomes an issue I'll use an alternative treatment. I do not prophylactically treat for ich.
