Alright you wrasseheads, which fairy could go in my 40 with a line spot flasher, mccoskers, yellowfin flasher, filamented flasher and leopard? LA has flames on sale, and I know they're saying they need minimum 90 gallons. Is there any way I could pull it off with the current stock list and size of tank? I mean come on, it's not like I'm wanting a vlamingi or anything lol

A 40 is pretty small but perhaps a Lubbock?

I went and looked at blue zoo and they say 50 gallon minimum. If that's the case then my 40 should be enough.

Uh oh

A 40 will suffice, it may not provide all the length for a full nuptial display, but should be fine.

When there are recommended tank sizes the footprint is more important than total gallons and 36"x18" is adaquete.

Just utilize a social acclimation box when introducing a new wrasse to existing ones.

EXACTLY! recommended gallons doesn't mean much. say they suggest a 50 gallon for a bottom dweller and you have a 55 tall. well, technically you have enough gallons but with such a small footprint you don't have enough room for different bottom dwellers. say a fish likes more vertical areas and you have a 40 gallon shallow and it calls for a 29 gallon. well... you've got enough gallons, but the vertical height isn't enough. gotta look past minimum gallons and look more at the needs of the fish.

If it says minimum 50g than how the heck is a 40g enough? Further more I can't believe you have the Wrasse's you do in a 40, ugh!

This is why. I'm not exactly sure why the bad attitude here. This isn't rc @NanaReefer

Thanks a bunch @eatbreakfast. I was pretty sure it would be ok, but wanted the opinion from someone more experienced with wrasse than I .

Yup; those of the lubbocki complex are what I like to recommend for a 40g, as they all stay ~3".
C. adornatus (a bit prone to aggression though)
C. lubbocki
C. flavidorsalis
C. marjorie

The leopard is iffy, but the flashers are all fine.

I hear 5 lines are like 6 lines but are less aggressive and more open.
??? No such thing...

The leopard is iffy.

I agree with this being as a leopard is a more difficult fish to keep. With this tank being well established and having a large food source I figured it might have a decent chance.

Sorry to jack the post but I only need a short and sweet answer. Can I have a carpenters flasher wrasse with a melanurus?

Yeah shouldn't be an issue but some large melanarus can be bossy

I may get stoned in the town square for posting this but "it might have a decent chance" is, IMHO, a rather cavalier attitude toward a living, breathing organism fish or fowl. We can never be certain of our choices of what we put in our water boxes but we should use the best information available to make an informed decision. Yes, I confess, I'm a fish hugger. lol
