Wrasses in 75g

I'm looking at getting a Red Velvet Fairy Wrasse and a Pintail Fairy Wrasse in my 75g. I've seen a lot of stuff saying Wrasses don't pair but I had a Coris and Melanurus previously with no problem. Would 2 Fairy wrasses be alright in this size tank?

Also possibly adding 1 more Wrasse later on, maybe a Naoko.

Wrasses not pairing means that it's generally best practice to not keep two of the same species.

Definitely possible if you pick the right two.

What I would do if they do fight is after fighting for a bit (they might just do it first few days then stop to establish territory), move the aggressor to the sump or something temporarily and after the weaker one gets better and all and have some time to establish itself, move the aggressor back and the 'weaker' one should get to stand its ground better

Thats what I did when I added a smaller radiant wrasse to a tank with an established redlined wrasse and it worked out. Not fairy wrasses necessarily but worth a try

Where on earth did you hear that wrasse don't pair well. They probably get along with eachother better then any other group of fish

Saying that those are not two I'd keep together in a 75 just because the Red velvet is big and the pintail is small and they are a b it too closely related.
Here's my quick suggestions:

• C isosceles- pintail
• C. efatensis - hooded flame
• C. exquisitus - exquisite
• C rhomboidalis - rhomboid
• C lubbocki - lubbocks
• C naoko or C rubriventralis - Naoko or longfin (not both)

Any combo of those will work.

I found an Earmuff for sale. Still on the hunt for a Naoko Wrasse though. I didn't realize how expensive these guys can be.

When I had a freshwater tank I thought $50 was nuts for 1 fish, then I realized pretty much all saltwater fish are atleast $60

Geez, what were you keeping in FW? neons only?
I've had individual tetras that were 100, rays over 1500, cichlids and catfish in the 100-400 range

vast majority of freshwater fish are a couple bucks to $20 but finding a saltwater fish below $20 is challenging

depends on where in your hobby journey you are. WC are never cheap and anything that the serious collector wants comes with a hefty price tag

If it works depends. Stress can kill a wrasse fast. If pintail is out and doesn’t look to stressed then it can work. If hissing and not eating much it won’t. You may need to re home one or even adding a couple more to spread out the aggression.

They tank is well stocked. The flasher only goes after the pintail. Whenever the pintail goes out to eat it’s chased back into a cave. Should I get rid of the flasher or stick it in the sump?.
