Wrong powerhead?

I recently bought a Koralia 565 for my 30 gallon long that I’m setting up, but after reading some articles I’m thinking I might have messed up lol, would it be better if I got two 240’s? would it be to much if I kept the 565 and get a 240 to distribute the flow better? I’m planning on doing only Lps and softies. This is my first saltwater tank so any advise is appreciated lol.

If you can return it, two 240's might be optimal.

If you can't, softies can take and like a bit more flow than most people think - but no coral likes to be blasted so just be aware of placement. Likely still need another pump to get additional direction. Go with a 240 then.

Also realize that as your corals grow that you may want that 565 to move the water around some big fat softies.

Thanks lol I hadn’t thought about that, do you think that if I keep the 565 the flow from my return pump could compensate a bit? assuming I place the Powerhead on the opposite side

Hard to know without looking...but with a little putzing around with placement and direction, I'm sure you can get it to work just fine. Your corals/fish will let you know. If you have a clownfish plastered against the glass...might wanna move it around some more. But I wouldn't over worry too much over it either. I dumped a red branching xenia piece (very, very tiny) I salvaged from a temp tank. I dropped it in a high flow area without paying too much attention. It has been blown straight out horizontal for 3 months*...but it's also tripled in size. So, they're really pretty tough.

*wouldn't try that with a candy cane or any 'puffy' lps.
