WTB LifeReef Float Switch

As anyone who previously owned a LifeReef sump may know his float switches are great! I have one that is still working after 10 year, and am looking for a second one for my new tank since they will be running simultaneously.

Does anyone have one they are willing to depart with or not need anymore?

I have 2 of them but always had a problem with stray voltage ...if you figure out what could be wrong please give me a clue

Suggest you check out an Avast ATO. They use the same pressure switch principle.

That's all it really is. Super convenient set up though.

lifereef makes superb stuff but i’ve never seen this before. can you explain what makes this design better than just a regular float switch by itself?

Jeff stopped making them years ago. I just like how they mount in the sump in a failsafe way. The acrylic tube screw tightens into the sump so there is no chance of it falling off. Been using this one since 2008 and never had a problem.

Wrong. The float valve is a back-up option to the pressure switch, and is just one of many available options. Suggest you read the entire page. Their ATO can be configured in a number of ways - check the drop downs.

My bad! I thought you were referring to the picture on the Avast page. Looking more closely at the 1st photo, it is indeed a float switch.

The reason that the lifereef float switch was really great is that it didnt Bob up and down. I had one plumbed from my ro unit so it would top off ....also you can have it hooked up to your skimmer so if the water level is low it would shut off your pump also if you water level was low in your sump you can have it shut off your return pump so the pump wouldn't fry
