Pls let me know what you have. Looking for a quite skimmer for a 4"x4" space.

I just bought a coralife nano skimmer on Amazon for less than $30. It works fine for me, but there are better nano skimmers for a lot more money. I think Aquamax is the best. My skimmer fits in the back section of my 12g nanocube.

Does it run pretty quiet?

If you can afford a better one I'd do it. This is a very basic skimmer that I got because I had a gift card and it was almost free. Which nano do you have? I have a 12g nanocube.

Some of the hang on backs are much better. I'm sure others will chime in on this.

Tunze Doc 9001 is a great nano skimmer.

I have a 20x20x8 AIO frag tank.

Yes, quality product and extremely quiet. My tank is an AIO 20 gallon. Just check the measurements against your back compartments. Marine Depot usually has them at a good price. This is my second Tunze Doc, tried a IM Ghost skimmer, not good, went back to Tunze.

You can find a better skimmer but not for the price.

Thanks. Some reviews say that it produces a lot of micro bubbles even after running for 1.5 months. Another complained about the water line issue. That makes me wonder is my 6 to 7" water line in the sump will work or not. How deep is your tank and did you have any issues with bubbles and water level?

Never had an issue with micro bubbles. Depth is 9 inches. You do have to make sure you have it at the correct water level, which takes a little adjusting. My water line is at 6 inch roughly. With Tunze sometimes you need to re-seat the pump or tubing, if micro bubbles are an issue, no biggie.

Aquamax HOB gets good reviews. I know people that really like it, but I do not want a HOB.

I have had Coralife, and Hydor as well, I would avoid both.

Tunze is just so quiet, I have a SPS dominate tank with Anemones and the Tunze gets the job done.

Foot print of the skimmer is 4.3x2.5 and the magnet is on the 2.5 side. The space I have is 4.5x4 so there is only one way to put this in but the magnet will be problematic coz the 4.5 is running along the back wall and the 4 is running along the internal sump space. Question is, will it be okay to run it without the magnet?

Yes I have never removed the magnet but others have to make it work. Look at the Tunze doc9002, they do not make it anymore but an excellent skimmer, it might fit, perhaps you can pick one up on somewhere.

There is another nice AIO nano skimmer I just can not think of the name. JBJ makes one but I have heard it's junk as well Cardiff's.

I used one of the sponges I took out to make room and cut it in half. Then I tucked it in next to the body of the skimmer to hold it in place. Worked like a charm.

Thanks to Tahoe61 and glb for all the help!

Tunze 9002 is too big.

I do have space on the along the 4.5" surface of the sump. Is there enough space of the skimmer to place the magnet along longer side of the skimmer body? I can use a rubber band to strap it on, as the last resort.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's the second day for the tunze 9001 in my tank and it's so quiet, and the foam level is great. There is a little micro bubble in the tank but I can live with that.
