wtb: pump for protein skimmer.

the impeller for my skimmer is stripped and i cannot seem to find a replacement. the pump is an older RIO 1100 with a needle wheel. from what i can find it was rated at 382 gpm, with a 5/8" outlet. anyone have an extra pump they are willing to sell?

I would buy a new one. I have two DC pumps. Love them. Their quiet and consume less power. Hopefully you can find one that fits.

One thing I have learned over the years: When you're looking for a pump be sure that you can buy an impeller for it. It is the first thing (and maybe the only thing) that will go wrong with it.

Other than that; Rio pumps have a pretty high failure rate. I've thrown a couple away. Some people report them catching on fire.

that one requires a conversion kit to install it. i'll probably just get another pump and be done with it

Harry, this one came with the tank, sump and skimmer when i bought it a couple years ago. it was part of the package so i never really thought to looking into how readily available replacement parts were
