Looking for a Rainbow Lord (few polyps) that has been in captivity for a while and is holding it's rainbow color. LMK and send pics if you have one. Thanks.

we have a few on our website that we've had for about over a year.... what kind of lighting do you have?

2 250W Radiums on Coralvue ballasts with 2 large lumenbrite pendants over a 150G.

99% of the time it is not the lord but the lighting that is to strong.
Acans like low light conditions. I actually had 2 frags from the same rainbow colony. I put 1 under the halide and 1 under a cap. The one in the shade held its color and the other turned orange. It cost me a lot of cash before being clued in by juniormc8704.
I hope this helps with your future rainbows:)

Thanks for the info. Are we talking totally shaded by the cap?

Thanks again. I have had 6 different rainbow acans. All kept in low - medium light. 5 turned red and one held it's nice rainbow (green, orange, yellow, etc.) until I moved it and for whatever reason it got the dreaded jelly and passed.

I have your perfect rainbow acan! I've had this aussie ultralord rainbow acan in my tank for about a year now. I have moved it from the sand to the top and back again messing with flow, light, growth rates, and color and this acan can handle almost anything and still hold its color. The only time it lost a little rainbow color was when it was fragged. It gets more pink than red in the upper parts of the tank but still holds the yellows, green, and a little orange. As long as it wasnt getting blasted by flow (I have mostly SPS) it did great. I have 2 frags available; a 4 head frag and a 8 head frag, LMK. thanks
