I ended up giving up on suction cups and went to appliance mover straps from Home Depot. Our club has used them 5 or 6 times now and they work on stands as well as tanks. We moved a stand for a 220g tank that still had a sump and most of the plumbing and hardware inside. And the straps are a lot less expensive.

I have used these several times but it was always annoying to get it situated off of a truck bed etc. The last time we used them we moved a tank to a stand with a lip and I swear it was so much trouble to get them out and the tank in place. Maybe we were doing something wrong. What are the downsides of the cups? I know the straps left you use different muscle groups and made carrying it easier for sure. It almost seems like a combination of straps and cups would be awesome.

IMO cups r must have for lg tank move I rented 4 to move my tank!
To buy would be too expensive unless u can rent them and make $ back

Our club raises funds through raffles and yearly contributing members. Their money affords them discounts at LFS that are sponsors, access to items like the club par meter, raffle items and the funds support our site. I'm considering buying 3 and having the club by 3 and then have all 6 be available to contributing members just like the par meter.
