I am going out of town and I need more peace of mind. :D

I am looking for a Skimmer WASTE collector! Please PM me or post here if you have one you want to sell.

Thanks.

If I can't find one can anyone recommend one to me? I need one that is a little bigger since this is a large skimmer on my 250g.

Thanks.

WHy not make your own. Run a hose in to a 5 gallon bucket or something.

Premium had some on clearance. Check in the clearance section. :)

Bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rev, it depends on what type skimmer you have if that is a good choice. If you have a Beckett, then go for it. That is a great choice, becasue it cuts off airlfow thru the skimmer, which kills Becett injector operation. A recirculating skimmer like an Orca (what I have), would fill that up and keep going till it ran out the ping pong ball holders.

The only realy safe thing to use is a float type shutoff switch that controls power to the skimmer, like the Reef Specialty product you mentioned. I got mine after my first overskimming incident that flooded my waste collector and let 10-15 gallons of water on the floor.

So you got the Reef Specialty one?

I am running an ORCA 250g fed through the overflow.

Rev - If you are still looking let me know. Reef Octopus just released on and I can save you some cash on it.

After looking at the link that you posted, its the same one that I am talking about, Reef Octopus / Coralvue.

I have an MRC waste collector, and when I had my first flood I bought just the CoralVue float switch and installed it in place of one of the ping pong ball holders. It is the same basic thing as the CV/Octopus waste collector. I held one of these Octopus collectors with the float switch in my hand today at Einstein Aquatics, and it is really nice with good workmanship.

Auto Shutoff

I like how it says "Not guaranteed to stop overflow." Gotta cover your bases I guess. Seems like it would work though. I have a hose running to a gallon milk jug....and it overflowed. Just yesterday as a matter of fact.
If you have the RKE you can use one of the switch ports on the SL1 to turn your skimmer pump off when your bucket gets full. All you need Is the float switch to hook It all up and Wham you saved some money:sure:
That Is If you have the RKE?
