Congratulations!!!

Congrats on the new additions! I sure hope you don't spoil them too ;)

I really hope to. Ice cream and cookies at 4. Right before dinner.
Jill has already got them enough clothes to last until they are 25 or so.

I didn't make that up. My mother, the old school depression surviving eat your vegetables type did that with our kids so it must be okay.

What do you do when you want a holder for 3 7 inch filter socks that fits in a 100 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank?

You make one.

Designed by Hillbilly Engineering using patented TLAR technology. TLAR works everywhere you do.

I need more stainless screws. I grabbed a bunch and when I got home half weren't stainless.

I have found the most beautiful things to me are ones that work well that I managed to make myself.

I got the new implant all assembled and the screws and joints sealed with silicone. Time to cut some plumbing up. I also have 2 new Simplicity DC pumps to install. One will be the return for the 75 and the second will run the bio pellet reactor.
My 2 Sicce 4.0 pumps seem to have had a reaction to the pipe thread sealant I used and the plastic became brittle around the pump outlets and crumbled.

Works

I changed the drains around so all water drains through the 2 inch drain to the filter socks. I can put it in and remove it. Reset the skimmer to run in 8 inches of water. BRS says this skimmer is supposed to run in 6.5 inches but that seems silly to me.

I must now remember to pee before going into the fish room. There is a loud running water sound in there.
The new pump is in. All systems are normal.
4 gallons of skimmate.

Now I need to do my daily water change and clean some glass.

Well done!

Fun weekend. All the kids came in so there were lots of people and 12 dogs here. After 2 am Saturday morning there where only 11 dogs.

RIP Toby

He was a great friend and we had many good times.
One of those things you always know is coming but never gets any easier.

I didn't get everything done but it has water in it. The rocks got pitched in and everything is alive.
and I did get it painted this time.

Once in a Lifetime

And you may find yourself
Living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself
In another part of the world
And you may find yourself
Behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house
With a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, well
How did I get here?

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was

Water dissolving and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Under the water, carry the water
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!
Water dissolving and water removing

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again into silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

You may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
You may ask yourself
Where does that highway go to?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right? Am I wrong?
And you may say yourself
"My God! What have I done?"

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again into the silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Look where my hand was
Time isn't holding up
Time isn't after us
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Letting the days go by
Same as it ever was
And here the twister comes
Here comes the twister

Letting the days go by (same as it ever was)
Same as it ever was (same as it ever was)
Letting the days go by (same as it ever was)
Same as it ever was
Once in a lifetime
Let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by

I changed the socks this morning and did the water change.
I put a pump in the sump and run a hose to the sink. I made a dip stick and between the marks is 6 gallons.
I pump it down to the mark. I throw the pump in the mixed water and move the hose to the sump. I plug the pump into my ATO controller. It fills it back to the correct level. Takes 5 minutes.

I made a manifold to distribute the water to the socks to cut down on splashing. The socks made it 3 days and I have 4 sets. Now I have to figure out a way to easily clean 3 big socks at a time. For my first attempt I and trying hot water and muriatic acid first and then bleach later.

Yesterday I took the lights down and cleaned the foam air filters and glass. Then I put the 20k MH bulbs back in.
So much less glare. It makes the tank so much nicer to look at from across the room.

I will probably get some 14k bulbs next and try them.

I have been going around and around about getting a bigger skimmer. I feel like I am pushing the Reef Octopus to it's max and I have to clean it every 3 days.
My nitrates and phosphates are good. I have been using Nopox. I am down from a max dose of 55ml a day to 15. I will probably end it this week if the testing keeps like it has been.
That could be due to the biopellet reactor finally coming online too. I did put a bigger Simplicity DC pump on it.

I put in an order for a SVS3-36 IN-SUMP Lifereef with an ozone kit. Big skimmers are really expensive. It should fit right where the SRO-5000 sits.

I was looking hard at an ASM G6 but the footprint is just too big. It won't fit unless I redo everything.

You will love the life reef skimmer. It was one of the few pieces of equipment that I kept when I sold everything off a few years ago. I also switched from a RO skimmer when I had bought the life reef.

I am not running the ozone kit, but did upgrade to the larger collection cup and went with the maezzi injector for it. It is an absolute beast that you can tune any way you want.

What pump do you plan on driving it with??

It comes with a Danner Magdrive 18. I will drain it to a bucket like I am now. I wasn't sure about the injector but felt It might be something to do in the future.
I am pretty good with DIY stuff.
