WWC salinity levels

Hello all,

Shopped locally at WWC yesterday and tested the salinity in the coral bags when I brought them home using my refractometer. Was pretty surprised to see it at about 1.0295
Thought my meter was messed up so I pulled out my old hydrometer, same result. Is there a reason they’d be keeping it so high in the farm?

I do not know if it is accurate, or intentional. I’ve not heard of big reasons for higher salinity, but many corals in the Red Sea do fine at higher salinity.

That’s one way to raise up the mag level I guess.

Maybe WWC ato system went out on that tank/system and they haven’t figured it out yet?
