Maybe a silly question but just wondering if a fresh cut X-MAS tree close to a tank possibly affect the water in a reef I know inside air can but what about when you put a pine tree next to it

I doubt it just because technically the tree is already dead and not completing the nitrogen cycle

A green Christmas tree isnt exactly dead yet and Im sure the carbon affixation part of the calvin cycle (uptake of CO²) is still happening to an extent.

Will it affect pH of the tank? Very doubtful, even if your house has a large amount of appropriately lit house plants, the difference will be minimal, if even measurable, as the amount of CO² you and your family/pets expel will be massively greater than even a large amount of house plants would uptake.
