I have a relatively new tank. 6mo in and seem every i put in there is dead within 24hrs. Even snails are dead within a day or two. My fish do fine. No problem with them iv tested for everything that i can think of Even copper my saltwater aquarium store Even tested my water and said its perfect i can't even grow Cato in my refugium it dies in a few days. There's very little algae in my tank also. Not sure why not. I have a couple of friends who started there tank a month after me and they have all kinds of algae coral and doing great.

P.S. i have also checked my tank for stray voltage and its good. Even put a titanium prob in just in case.

Help no one seems to know what is going on with my tank

Completely gone in a few days. Lights not the top of the line but had checked and was good enough for soft and lps. Fact had to turn them down some

Is it only xenia? what other corals have died?

Was it fresh cut xenia?

Xenia can actually be finicky. Definitely don't buy a fresh cut.

Parameters all seam fine except for magnesium . Which seams very low .

in a newer setup I wouldn’t expect cheato to thrive as it feeds on nutrients but also requires a stable supply of nutrients as well as other elements

what salt mix are you using ?
Do you have a picture of the full setup ?

I’d also try testing frequently to see if there are any unstable trends try once per day at the same time of day .

how is the flow in your tank? Is there enough oxygen exchange?

Pic of your tank will really help a lot.

I bought it on a rock so no it was not fresh. Thank's

Xenia actually likes very low flow or even no flow. That's the purpose for it pulsing, it is displacing water around it creating it's own flow.

The last I read the pulsing for the purpose of circulating water was only a speculation .
I have mine in moderate but random flow and they are open and spread rapidly . Perhaps they do “fan” the water around themselves for this reason
Once upon a time I couldn’t keep
Them alive and thinking it might have something to do with age maturity and stability of the system ?

They like dirty water, disgusting even. Mine do well pretty much anywhere but in areas of very low flow they flourish.

Similar to more soft corals even some lps prefer higher nutrients
I am going along with what you are saying about dirty water . I have Xenia in my sump along with my cheato and only a cheap grow light and they are growing and spreading .

I do think the extremely low mag is a test error but also believe being a newer system
I know when mine was new years ago I couldn’t keep many corals Alive . Xenia , Kenya tree , zoas , leathers , we’re just some of what I couldn’t keep for long

Your MG isn't extremely low. It's supposed to be 3x CA which it is. If it was in the 1100s that'd be more of an issue.

How is your ph so high? Any reactors? Are you dosing anything?

Where is the picture of the tank?

History of parameters? Do you keep a log?
