I just bought a small frag of Xenia pulsing coral four days ago. I might have placed them in a place where they did not get enough light because now they aren't moving at all. They haven't moved in a couple days even though I put them up higher where they have better flow and light. Are they dead?

Not sure how big your tank is but xenia tends to do much better when you dose iodine. You could try dosing, how much depends on your tank. I have found it helps xenia dramatically.

For reference I have about 80 gallons of water volume and I like to dose a drop 2-3 times a week. I think it helps my whole tank, and my shrimp. I have small xenia frag sheltered and alive lol. Just because I like pulsing xenia, I have noticed it stop pulsing when I dont dose the iodine. I am sure a lot of people will say dont dose what you cant test etc. You can test for iodine, but I am not sure how accurate the tests are now, and frankly I have never seen any harm from low dosing lugols. I just wouldnt go crazy with it.

Thanks, I will look into that. When I bought them they were just going crazy, Im just sad to see them doing nothing...

Softies will bunch of really small from time to time, thats just what they do. They still need good water parameters, and high lighting. Pics would help identify the issue.

When i had xenia they would stop pulsing if my alk was too low.

I will post pictures in a sec.. flow looks good and they are positioned at the top of the tank now. they were in a place of not so good flow or light for two days and have been in good light and flow for the last two days..

They will start pulsing again after they get acclimated to their new surroundings. Soon you will be getting the weed eater after them. Give them a few weeks.

Mine are in high flow and have never pulsed since I put them in my tank yet they still grow quite fast.

Mine are at highflow now and have receeded to almost nothing

I had to scrape what I could off just the other day during my re aquascape

For your sanity make sure you isolate them! They spread like wildfire once they are happy.
They are beautiful dont get me wrong, but as you start to want different corals you will regret ever putting them in your tank!
Its funny cuz I used to be the guy who couldnt get them to grow and jow I cant get them to leave me alone haha

It sounds like lower flow is best for Xenia

They are a weird coral either they do well or they dont I bought one and it died and after 2 months decided to try it again and this time its doing great If I was to give my two sense I would say they do well in really good clean water and low flow is best atleast thats whats working for me
