Hi,
I am new to saltwater aquarium keeping, and I was thinking of getting some corals. I looked some up, and I found the Xenia coral. I have a fire fish and a clownfish in a 30 gal, and I was wondering if it would be a good option, since I have never kept corals before?

They grow like weeds, like high nutrients and are nearly impossible to kill. Definitely good for beginners, just read up on them and know what you're getting into before adding any.

My first coral in my 14 gallon cube was pom pom xenia. They went in the tank in September, and the frags were the size of my fingernail. They are 10x the size already and growing. I put them on their own little rock 'island' which I read can help to mitigate their spread as they will start to blanket everything.

I really like them but if you're wanting to place them on the same rock as everything else maybe research first ways to help keep it from taking over.

I have one and it's a pretty coral which opens and closes all the time. It is great for a beginner and grows fairly quickly. The downside is pieces will break off and land elsewhere in your tank. If you don't want them there you need to remove them.
