Xenia Question !?

So I got some Xenia’s a few days ago and they were doing well until they kept getting knocked onto the sand bed or crawled on by hermits. Does anybody have any suggestions for keeping hermits off of them? They are small right now so they’re really sensitive.

The hermits shouldn't hurt it. Just make sure the xenia is secured with putty or at least super glue and you should be good to go

Glue them to the rock. Prob solved.

As already stated glue them down. IME here is no way to keep hermits off of them short of removing the hermits.

Hermits will merely upset them
Elevate the Xenia higher as they rarely climb high in a tank

they were glued down a couple of days ago and finally starting to open back up and move around. Does anybody think they will be able to come back and thrive ?

You will provided your water chemistry in terms of nitrate and phosphate are in the normal ranges.

Even Xenia die in new unstable tanks.

Crabs just doing their job.
Not killing them, but cleaning the new rock addition.

It will come back and thrive. Keep you parameters in check and make sure its either isolated to a singular rock or you have a plan to keep it pruned back. Once it gets happy and starts thriving, it grows quickly. I have a ton of it and trim it back once a month. My LFS buys the frags back from me for $5 each.

You mean .1ppm for phosphate right?
Nitrate 20-40ppm, 20 would be better.
Just tweak that salinity to 1.025.
Otherwise those numbers look great.

Yea, sorry about that but phos are low. I’ve been adding a tablespoon of reef salt every other day to get it up a little bit.
