Xenia with Queen Trigger

So it’s been 2 days. It took an exploratory bite then decided to leave it alone.

Tank is still in its ugly phase but could be something cool and different.

Any suggestions? Flow? Lights? Protection?

Might try some horse shoe crabs for a CUC.

They look like they might be melting, lower flow would be good for them and what lights are you using?

They have perked up quite a bit in the last 24 hours but I do have it pretty close to the power head.

I’m using some fluval garbage LED for now but I have nice red seas on my big tank.

Anything on the cheap end I could add lighting wise?

Since the queen could just demolish them anything at anytime I’m trying to stay on the cheap lol.

Xenia can grow in pretty much any light, I would probably just move them to a lower flow area and they should do better

Really? I see liveaquaria sells them. They get 2', not 2". That's wild. They're protected where I live..

Can't keep them fishing here but for aquarium display you can. Interesting SE florida. Just had to look out up lol.

Used to eat these growing up if they were big enough

Iy seems they were just recently banned from harvest here. Interesting. I guess I just assumed they always were for some reason

I would do just one. They grow pretty fast. My eels tried to eat her once (same with my triggers) but her shell is like armor. None of them try to eat her anymore. Just make sure you have sand for it to go in! Here is mine. Shes been with me almost 2 years now

They also grow fast through the first two molts than slow way down. The size shes at now is after her second molt. The smaller molt was the size she was when I found her (she hitch hiked in on some rocks from another reefer) my and for size reference. Ive had her in my 125 a while and shes been fine. Upgraded to the 300 and she loves it!
