Hey everyone,

My lfs has a pusling xenia frag and have been thinking about putting in my tank. I know they can grow like wildfire but they do have a very nice motion in the water. What is the best means of keeping them and if you would not recommend them what other type of coral would you suggest?

Medium light and flow does good for me with some nutrients in the water. Though they tolerate most anything I’ve tried. Can spread quickly, but I never had trouble keeping them in check with pruning (I just cut the excess off the rock with scissors and threw it away). The pulsing is really amazing. I’ve had reef tanks for 9 years and haven’t gotten tired of it. Wouldn’t put it in a SPS dominant tank

Not running a SPS dominate tank, doing a really nice mixed reef tank and i have a few hammers and torches i might be able to use to keep an area in check. Though I do have to agree that the pulsing is really nice

That’s what I’ve done with green star polyps. Xenia tends to prune itself. The self fragged branches drift until finding another place to settle in my tanks. I’ve got a lot of flow so that’s everywhere

I also thought about just running them in my fuge as it would serve the same purpose as running chateo
