I have a 120-gallon tank. 60x24x18. I am trying to make a decision if iI should buy XF230 or Icecap 3k
so far this is what I know.
XF230 can do up to 2300 gph, Price $289.99
Icecap 3k can do up to 3000 gph Price $149.99

I want to know, what do you guys think about these two gyre pumps?

I can't say anything about the XF230 but I have an Icecap 3k on my 40B and I love it. It will get noisy if I don't properly maintain it or if I get microbubbles but other than that it's dead silent (location is less than 10ft from my bed. I just do a basic cleaning once a month and a total breakdown cleaning every 3 months. It's built well and the controller is very easy to use. There are only two cons that I see with it. It's not controllable with any other controller like an APEX and you cannot synch two units together. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong on those two things. I don't have a controller and am only running one of these so not a big deal but of course I'd love to upgrade one day.

I would take into consideration if you will be sticking with one or eventually upgrading to 2. The icecap 3k is great ( i just installed one on my 4’ tank) but it has no synchronized capability if I wanted to put one on the opposite side while the 230 does. I would have gotten a 230 if they would have been in stock just for that reason alone. That being said... I love the icecap thus far. It pushes massive amounts of water, it’s quieter than my mp10qd at 40% which is what I run it at, and it’s half the price of the ecotechs

Yea those features are why the maxspect 230 comes in at $280 while the icecap comes in at $150.
