I currently run (2) MP40's on my 6" tank. I'm looking at increasing the flow, and picked up 2 XF250 Gyre Pumps, however running them even at 10-40% the constant on/off pump sound is quiet loud.

I've seen some threads about this, but not for the XF250. Will this problem subside over time, or will it always be loud?

Thanks!

So I run two 250s in my 120g and they were loud for the first 7-10 days. Now I don't even notice them. I could hear them at first from 15-20 feet away at first.

Ok, I'll keep running mine then. You sure that wasn't just you getting used to the sound? Also, which mode do you have yours in?

Thanks!

@hijinks7 It was actually your post I was referring to in my OP! :D

I'm glad to see it resolved after normal use. I thought at the end of your thread, you received a new unit which resolved the problem. Good to know!

Yes one had some bearing issues and the LCD was fading but the new ones they sent had the same noise issue which is all but gone.

If your tank is dead silent if you ramp up/down you will hear some noise but it isn't distracting for me. I'm also very sensitive to noise in a tank.
