You should look into the Ushio 14k/Gman Coral, very bright white bulb with loads of par.

Tried them, not a fan. they don't keep that white look for long. And I'm not into replacing mh bulbs every 6 months. I've tried most bulbs and got the best growth from iwaskai 65k followed by xm 10k. A blue colored bulb is just not a option for this size tank, they just seem to dim.

bingo! ...at least at 250w.

time to move up to 400w 20k.

i just did this - went from 4 x 250w to 2 x 400w radium/galaxy in huge reflectors. very happy so far.

Not sure how this got all off topic, I was just looking for the best prices on xm bulbs. I no what I want for my tank. Been doing the reef tank thing now for over 20 years I no what I like.

i quoted you saying that 250w 20k is too dim. to that end i suggested moving up to 400w 20k, as it will not be dim, and will give you the blue it sounded like you were after. that's all i was trying to say. :smile:

hellolights, they have free shipping and the XM 10K put out great par for a BIG tank, supplemented with some actinic, you will get growth and color

not after the blue really in the mh bulb, I have good supplementation for that

blue party bulb from home depot, 5 bucks lasts 7 years and makes the corals pop. Really good find and a few other local reefers have started using them too. 17 Bright blue watts

Don't mean to hijack this thread but was
getting ready to set these up and was wondering if any of you have any pictures of your setups with these party lights. I was thinking of buying some cheap sockets at HD and drilling them to the underside of my canopy under my reflectors next to the XM 400w 10Ks.
