Hello,

just got the new XP Aqua Sumpless ATO yesterday and I’m having problems with the top off system. Woke up this morning and the red alarm was going off so i presses the controller. Now the top off will continuously fill without stopping, brought my salinity down to 30 ppt (preformed a water change it’s back to normal now) any thoughts as to why this is happening? Is the sensor not placed correctly?

i had the same issue when i first installed my XP aqua ATO.
The majority of sumps are on the floor as well as the top off reservior youre likely using.

It may be a case of continous siphon.

Easiest way to combat this is install the included siphon break fitting at the very top of the tubing as it exits the ato reservoir.

Or simply move the output of your ato tubing above the water level in the reservoir.
This isnt always possible so thats why the siphon break fitting is so useful.

Also, dont let the oriface get clogged if you use kalkwasser or youll have the same issue happen again.

Thank you very much, was trying to follow the instructions on installing these but I think I finally figured it out, hopefully smooth sailing from here

Update it’s still having overflowing issues, should I contact XP Aqua?

If the pump turns off (light on control stops spinning) and it still overfills then its a continuous siphon issue.
If the little light on the controller is spinning and doesnt stop, then I would presume theres an issue with sensor. And yes contact them.

Are you using it on an open tank or are you using it with the small in tank overflow weir?

When if fills the light keeps spinning and I want stop, and yes it camp with the hang on back sump weir

Now that you say that I believe I had the sensor fully submerged, and it keeps going even when the reservoir is dry
And the water level is right in the middle of the sensor?
Does it ever stop or only when the reservior runs dry?

This may be the issue.
try to establish a full level inside the weir where you'd like the water level to be at all times. ( factor in your salinity at this time to be where you want it)

clean the sensor with a little rubbing alcohol alcohol, let it dry, then stick it to where the water level sits in between the high and low sensor dimples.

plug everything in.

I believe the sensor may be getting a faulty water level reading.

if your sensor still overfills your tank then I would reach out to XP aqua tech support. they are pretty good with helping with any issues.

my duetto has been running solid for over a year. no hiccups.

Thank you so just an update i took out the sensor cleaned it off and it seems to be working better now, I’m just afraid to leave it for an expended period if time

another issue I noticed is my water reservoir now has a salinity reading of 25 ppt. I installed the siphon break will that prevent tank water from going into the ATO reservoir?

Sounds like your back siphoning now.
Yes the siphon break will not allow a siphon to start in either direction.
Place the output of your ato hose above the water line and you wont have that issue even without the siphon break.
Youll want it to stop your continuous siphon issue though anyways.

The back siphon that came with it did not work for me. The only thing that solved this issue was having the hose line above the water and the reservoir below the tank.

Its all relative to how you have your system configured. My configuration needs it installed to run reliably. Then again im not using the sumpless model so my sump level is usually lower than the res, and ato output has to be lower than id like it.

OP is having continuous siphon issues as well as back siphon issues now....

If the return tube is out of the water and the reservoir is below the tank you cant have siphon issues, all I am saying. I am also talking about the sumpless ato If thats not what OP is referring too then my bad :)

Youre correct as i said its all relative.
And yes you two have the same one.
I already advised pulling the line out of the water would solve his issue without the use of an anti siphon :)
