XR15 g2 vs g4

I’m looking to get an XR15 for a 60 gal hex that I just got. Plan to do some softies and zoanthids. How will a gen 2 do vs a gen 4. If I can save a hundred bucks I’d rather do so.

How old is the gen 2? For a hundred dollars more I would go straight to the gen 4. The gen 2 will get the job done but I wouldn't want to see it fail in a couple years when you could have had a gen 4 right off the bat. Could be wrong though.

You’re not wrong. The g2 is new, but just wanted to get a feel if the g4 packs that much of a difference.

there is no such thing as a G2 XR15. they only are G3 and G4

Oh really. I played around with my buddies gen 2 xr30s a few years ago but have never bought or ran radions long term so I never knew that.

Gen 4 has an incredible spectrum, I'd say get that.

And get the diffuser, the light will look so much better and have much more even coverage. Watch the brs video with the xr15 and the diffuser. I ordered the diffusers immediately after watching that video and I could not be happier.

I appreciate the pointer, but I’d rather save the 50 bucks. I haven’t cheaped out on anything, but the diffuser doesn’t seem like a luxury that I couldn’t live without.
