Hi reefers! I am putting up a shopping list for my 90 gallon tank. I have RB Photon V2+ on my tank right now, running 36% on blue, royal blue and purple + 4% of white for around 8 hours daily. I am not able to make my SPS happy, with ~0.01 ppm PO4 and ~4ppm NO3, and stale alkalinity (8.6) and calcium (~410ppm).

So I have been thinking and doing research about XR30 G4 Pro for a while. For some of you that have experience with both light (or either), do you think switching from Photon v2+ to XR30 G4 Pro worth it?

Well you're going to need two of them, plus mounting method. Unless you've got $2000 burning a hole in your pocket, I'd recommend sticking with the Photon. Or I'd be happy to give you more ideas for a reasonable fee

I’ve got 4 of the new XR30 G4 Pros on my new system, all integrated into Neptune Apex and there stunning lights.

Yes there expensive but unfortunately you get what you pay for with these things.

I don’t know about the other lights you mention, only the XR30’s and my current tank as Hydra 26HD’s which are also good.

I really like the Gen 4 Pros. I’m running 2 on my sps tank and I’m in the process of converting my 180 FO over to a reef and will use the Pros on that too. Awesome lights

I've got a pair of XR30 G4 Pro's on my 120DT. They replaced a pair of AI Sol Blues. So far (a couple months in) the only problem I've had with them is that they arfe WAY more powerful than the Sol's, so I've had to greatly reduce the output to allow all my corals to adapt.

I have no experience with the Photons.

IMHO. the G4's are a great light.
