Y tubing quetion

This question is in regard to flow efficiency. If I am connecting a pump to a Y adapter to split off to (2) flow nozzles is it more effecient to place the Y adapter closest to the pump or should I run the flexible tubing up and connect the Y closest to the nozzles. Its about 12" from pump to nozzles.

On my stock Red Sea tank the Y adapter is right above the pump - but that's about a 4' (or so) length of tubing. For a distance of 12" I don't think it really matters (functionality and ease of maintenance would be my highest priority).
