Turns out I calibrated my refractomer wrong the first day I got it now that I fixed my salinity is at 1.030 I will post my water test here tomorrow

Just take out water and add RODI water til you get it to your desired target number between 1.023 - 1.026 . Do you have any inhabitants yet ? Is this a new tank ?

I did this once but the other way, added RODI water during water change instead of salt. I added a bucket of saltwater that was SUPER salty and it fixed it. What @CoralB said above will work for you just fine.

Really simple fix. Everyone is a victim of poor calibration at some point. Just take out a small amount of salt water and add the same amount of RODI back in until you get to where you want to be. Just be sure to wait about 10-15 minutes between each time you check the salinity. Honestly 1.030 won’t do too much damage, I’ve had it be much worse and not had it ruin my day.

I agree with this but I wouldn’t do it at one time. I would do it gradually over time so as to not shock everything. That is if you have fish and corals. If not then you could do it at one time.

This does highlight how easy it is to get salinity wrong.
I did similar early on and have shocked a few fish when doing a water change with higher salinity than the tank.

Grequent calibration will also be needed going forward. On the bright side Its good to make these mistakes before tank is full of corals
