So I have an 18 gallon tank (L) and I just added a yellow coral banded shrimp last night. Before adding I had just an ocellaris clown and a fire shrimp. When feeding today the 2 shrimps got kind of close and it looked like the coral banded made a move for the fire, but the fire backed off right away. From what I can see there is no damage but the Coral banded seems to have kind of taken over the fire shrimps old cave. Should I be really worried of is this normal behavior. I will have a place to move in probably a months time, maybe even a couple weeks if this is bad news.

banded can be territorial as it often lays low during the day and aggressive at feeding often stealing food from coral. They eventually calm down

coral banded will fight other shrimp. They are quite agro with other shrimp.

Haven't heard that. Could maybe be true, but also, less aggressive does not mean not aggressive.
Thats a good point, my fire shrimp just seems to move out of the bandeds way, which I don’t mind because I get to see him some more.
On a side note the banded has molted this morning, should I leave the molt in for the calcium or just take it out?

Its fine either way. Theres already calcium in SW, so the issue of not enough calcium in diet that appears in FW sometimes is not really an issue in SW. If you don't like the way it looks, you can just toss it.

I have read that the yellow ones will stay smaller and be not as agressive as the regular ones. Is that fake news?
The CBS and YCBS are two different species. The CBS gets much larger and is more aggressive than the yellow. I had a CBS in a tank and decided to add a fire shrimp. As soon as I dropped the fire shrimp in, the CBS knew it, attacked and killed the new shrimp before it even hit the substrate. The yellows that I have now are very mellow and hang under their ledge. As food drifts by, they pop out, grab it and retreat back home. There are peppermint shrimp and small emerald crabs in the tank and are ignored.
