I am getting 2 yellow assessors ora and hope that a 55 gallon is fine. However since I ordered both at the same time I am now worried that they will each other in the fluval 13.5 quartine. Any ideas if that would be bad. I could put one in my 20 gallon nano but dont want to because it has not been qt.

Could you put some sort of divider in your QT? Depending on the filtration you could get Lowes or Home Depot to cut you a piece of plexi to the size you need.

Otherwise I'd say lots of hiding places. Set up 2 good "habitats" on each end of the tank. I've used fake corals and rocks from the pet store. Seems to help fish feel comfortable and since they're plastic they're easy to clean between QT sessions.

They should be fine, they are peaceful and social. Just observe for aggression, and if there is, put a divider in the tank.

thanks
this is why i was a little worried
Assessors may be kept in pairs or trios in larger tanks, but they do tend to squabble with conspecifics. There is no apparent way to tell the genders apart, and they can reproduce in captivity as mouthbrooders or by laying clutches of eggs.
