Would it be safe to add a yellow coris wrase to my 40g in which I already have a tiger pistol shrimp?

I have had one with a cleaner and a blood shrimp for a year and he leaves them alone. Yes mine has turned male.

Yellow wrasse are about the most safe Halichoeres wrasse with inverts from what I've read and observed. I have one that's almost 6" and has never bothered any of my shrimp(blood, skunk, pistol) or any of my snails. Get's along with everyone, isn't easily intimidated and is always out front and active. Great fish.

Definitely one of the most peaceful and active wrasses I have had and mines gotten pretty large too. Doesn't bother other fish, blood or cleaner shrimp or any of many different kinds of hermits or other inverts.

Mine doesn't bother the shrimp (Blood and Peppermints) but it does pick at the Nassarius snails a little.

I've had several over the years and they were model citizens. They add allot of color to the tank and are always out and active. I would say you're OK with getting one.

mine went after my snails- seemed to take a liking to escargo but everything else was fine.

Does anyone know if you can keep more than one in a 75 gallon tank?
In some cases, yes, but not always. As juveniles and females they can be quite social, but as males they can get a little pushy(still not as bad as most wrasses). If you were inclined to try it, I would suggest getting a group of 5 juveniles and letting them work it out. I would advise against adding any to an established male.

Would 3 do? thanks for responding.

Agree with everything said they're a fantastic species of wrasse. Very very underrated
