Hey how's it going, I have a 80 gallon shallow tank with 110 gallon sump refugium and plan on putting a mandarin or pair that already eats frozen. The wife seen a yellow coris wrasse at the lfs is it possible to keep the two together? Also any suggestions on fish would he cool.

Currant stock list
Clown pair in DT and a pair in sump
2xFire fish
1x shark nose goby
1x purple tang (in qt)

Thanks

I have a 90 with a fuge. My dragonet does not eat frozen. They are both happy and fat. Like my dragonet has fat rolls when he turns his body. Make sure to seed your tank with pods prior to adding. I think I added 1 bag of pods to the display and 1 bag in fuge prior to adding the dragonet. You'll be fine.

Ok cool used rock from my old tank that just salt in a tank with a heater, power heads and skimmer for about 6 months, then I've added two bottles of pods since.

Any other fish suggestions or do you think that would be pretty well stocked?

With a fuge that big, I would say youre good to go.

They will get along for sure.

Yellow "coris" wrasses are pod eating machines, so in some cases in might not be smart to mix them with mandarins.

I agree that, with a fuge that big, you should be fine.

Ok cool I'm going to grab it on the way home from work to surprise her. Thanks everyone

So there happened to be two when I got there. They both were swimming together so I got them both.....

You should had not add any fish in your DT without TTM or at least QT first

I have them floating there as I setup my second qt tank. I started floating them in the qt and the purple tang wasn't to excited about it. Should I try ttm with them? I have never done it before.

(that is just a speciman container) so looking more into tank tranfer I'm going to do it in five gallon buckets seems easy enough. Id like to used a old reef keeper to control the heater and a fan for the buckets. Would that he a wise idea since I only have one temp prob for it?

How did this end up? I have a canary wrasse and have been preparing for a mandarin for a few months now. I started my phyto/tisbe/tigre external cultures this week and have a few thousand amphipods in the display.

I do have a few pod guzzlers however: canary wrasse, pipe fish, mccoskers flasher (only eats pods from column). I'm wondering if the canary will maintain good temperament as long as I can feed a few thousand pods every week. Did you notice any aggression with the canary towards the mandarin?

There was no aggression I did end up with a few grasses in the tank and they did eventually out compete the mandarin. I was adding pods once a week and it still wasn't enough. The wrasses are just a way more aggressive eater then the mandarin

Yup if you have other pod eaters i would not add a dragonet.

I have a couple of mandarins and a couple of yellow wrasses for many years, No problem

You can see them here at the feeder. I have quite a few pod eaters
